The blackbird is one of the most common birds in our area. The male is black with a yellow, almost orange beak. The female, on the contrary, is brown and often has dark brown speckles on the chest. It is a medium-sized bird with a relatively long tail which it often wags. It has a thin, long beak and feeds on worms, insects and nuts. It has a very melodic song which is characteristic for springtime.
Where and when to spot it
The blackbird can often be spotted sitting on a branch and singing. It can be seen all year round in parks, on trees and bushes, in gardens, on squares, but also on rooftops, antennas or on the ground, looking for food.
